Anatomy of my PC.

Today were going to take a look at the inside of my PC.
You'll notice that each component has a number on it and I will list(below the picture) the Components names for you to look at, and learn what's inside a PC. Hopefully this will give you a better understanding of device location and what it looks like to be all plugged in.

MY PC

1. PSU or Power Supply Unit, this is what supplies power to all you components.

2. DVD-RW Disc Drive, this is used to play, read and write media on CD, CD-R, CD-RW, DVD, DVD-R and DVD-RW.

3. CPU, HEAT-SINK and FAN, This is the Central Processing unit this is what will process all your actions that are done on the computer, whether it's reading a document to playing music or playing a game. The heat sink and fan are designed to reduce the temperature of the component, if the CPU gets too hot it will force your computer to shut down.

AMD FX-4100 Quad Core CPU without the Heat sink on

4. RAM or Random Access Memory, this is what program data is temporarily stored on so your computer doesn't have to keep reading data from you HDD all the time making all your processes faster.

Two Sticks of 8Gb RAM at 1333Mhz

5. The Motherboard, this is what all your components connect to so that they can all work together.

6. GPU or Graphics Processing Unit, this is what provides all the games you play the rendering ability. It processes all the graphical data in a game, video or even the UI(User Interface) for windows and shows it you through what ever output peripheral your using, which depends on the connection used.

Sapphire Radeon HD 7770 Ghz Edition 1Gb

7. SSD or Solid State Drive, this is like a HDD but has no moving parts and works on the principal of flash memory like a USB drive or SD card. This makes booting your computer faster, loading games and programs a lot quicker.

Kingston V-300 120Gb SSD mounted on a 3.5" bay extension.

8. HDD or Hard Disk Drive, this is a storage device, and is a mechanical drive that stores data. It is also the most common form of storage for a desktop PC, but more and more people are starting to favour the SSD because of it's read and write speeds.

1Tb Seagate Internal HDD

This concludes my look at what's inside a computers case, don't be afraid to take the side panel off yours and have a peek at what your own PC looks like inside, see if you can pick out your components. Even research them do get a better idea how and what your can do.
Also if you don't know what's in your computer and would like to know your PC specs, you can type in the search bar in the start menu DXdiag and click on the blue circle with the yellow X in it. This will tell you your computers specifications.
