Backing Up Your Registry

Here's a little tutorial on how to back up your systems Registry keys before you make any changes.
Make sure you back them up on a separate storage space so you don't lose them if you break something while editing the Registry.

You can backup separate keys or the whole system registry.

  1. Open the registry edit by pressing Win+R this will open the RUN box(just like the image above), then just type regedit in this box and press enter.

  1. Locate and click on the key you would like to backup.

  1. Then click the File menu and click on Export.

  1. This opens a window asking you where to save it and to give it a name, then just click save.

If you want to back up the whole of registry then click on Computer and repeat steps 3-4, the only difference is that there's a little check box you want to click called Save All.

To reinstall the registry keys you have backed up repeat steps 1-3 but click Import instead of Export. Locate your backup and click ok.
